B’baba wanted to share a few more details about the upcoming Story Expansion DLC.

– Story Expansion: The Chapter of Marisa (August, 2024) – In this expansion, a prequel to the epic saga of the Hundred Heroes, you will get to know more about Marisa’s journey as a Guardian. The story revolves around her encounter with an enchanted girl who is fascinated by ancient ruins and ends up becoming Marisa’s cherished companion. The story is set in the lush Greatwood’s expanse and the mystical Runebarrows. However, mysterious and sinister forces are lurking around, and the duo sets out to uncover the secrets surrounding the enigmatic “Child of the Rune” they discover.

– Story Expansion: The Chapter of Seign (September, 2024) – This story extension immerses you in the saga, viewing events through Seign’s perspective and those who parted ways with Nowa’s troupe to address a certain “predicament” within the Galdian empire. What transpired inside the empire during their time apart? Moreover, what covert roles did Seign and his allies undertake, influencing the unfolding drama from the shadows?

– Story Expansion: The Chapter of Markus (October, 2024) – In this story expansion, Markus, Carrie, and Nowa brace themselves for an intriguing discovery. An anomaly dubbed “Menhir’s Distortion” has unlocked a mysterious teleportation gateway. Venturing forth as a trio, they prepare to delve into the enigmatic realm beyond. What hidden truths await them there? Perhaps the revelations would shed light on Markus’s shrouded past, unearthing long-buried secrets. With bated breath, they steel themselves for the unraveling of an extraordinary tale.

Eiyuden Chronicle January 2024 Community Update

JANUARY UPDATE 2024

Hey there, heroes!

Happy New Year! We’re finally into 2024 and ever-closer to the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes release!

To kick off the new year, we have some special messages from the team and another little sneak peak to whet your appetite for things to come!

DEVELOPER UPDATE

MURAYAMA
Rabbit and Bear Studio representation, Yoshitaka Murayama, here.
This is the year that our beloved Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is released.

What was still just a dream for us at the time of the 2020 Kickstarter campaign is now becoming a reality.

Please look forward to it.

KAWANO
Happy New Year for 2024!
Character Design Lead, Kawano here.
Here’s to the year to come.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is finally releasing this year.
There’s just a little longer to wait.

And since this is the year of the dragon, I drew a picture of Nowa riding a dragon to be used in our new years greetings.

<img class="”aligncenter" size-full wp-image-1233″ src="”https://eiyudenchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/EC-Image-87.jpg”" alt="””" />

This dragon…can be ridden in the game!
But I’ll leave that Komuta D’s Sneak Peek to reveal more!

Since I’m already spilling the beans, then I’ll reveal that the character I drew for the 2021 spring greetings will also appear in the game! Please keep an eye out for them.

<img class="”aligncenter" size-full wp-image-1231″ src="”https://eiyudenchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/ECHH-Jan-2024.jpg”" alt="””" />

Until next time!

MURAKAMI
Happy New Year!

Thank you for your tremendous support last year.
With the release date set and production in its final stages, we have been busier than ever this past year with trailer production, events, backer responses, etc., but thanks to your warmth and support, we have managed to get through it.
Again, thank you very much!

Finally, this year will be the release of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
The Japanese version has already entered the phase for final bug checks and fixes, and all that remains is to work with 505 Games to get it localized and platform-ready.

But now that you mention it, checking and adjusting RPGs is a lot of work… It is really hard work, especially for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, because it has so many elements, not to mention platform developments and localization support. Unexpected issues occur every day.

The days continue to pass by, but we are definitely moving toward completion.

Once the game is somewhat stable we will be able to provide beta access to all backers, so please be patient!

Although there are only a few days left insofar as production, we will continue to do our utmost and we look forward to your continued support.

Murakami J

KOMUTA
Happy New Year everyone!
Komunichi-wa, Komuban-wa, it’s director Komuta!

The year 2023 was a rager.
As we announced the release date last fall, this year will finally see the release of the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes!

As for as development is concerned, the project has entered bug-checking, with the team working together despite being almost crushed by the volume like we’d joked about at TGS.

Bugs can be as small as a simple typo or as large as something that stops the player from progressing at all, and the number of supported languages and platforms makes the battle against bugs as fierce as a scene out of Starship Troopers.
Some problems can be fixed easily while others require emergency meetings, so we are always on our toes.

Every day, however, we are definitely nearing completion, so please wait just a little longer!

Last but not least, our first Komuta D’s Sneak Peek of the year! Since it is the Year of the Dragon, I will show you the heroic combo of Nowa and his partner Chandra.

Thank you all for your continued support!

Eiyuden Chronicle December 2023 Community Update

Hey there, Heroes!

The end of 2023 is nearing and that means… a new year and more importantly the year Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is released to the masses. We have certainly had our ups and downs but continue to work on making the best game possible. We know it’s still a few months away so if you are looking for something to play over the Christmas break you can always pick up Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and get an introduction to some of the key characters (and wield a giant sword as a kangaroo!)

We wish you and yours the happiest of holidays!

Update Schedule:
While we largely kept to the last Wednesday of every month up until recently, platform selections and other logistical updates knocked us off track a bit. Due to year end holidays the next update will be January 10th. From there we’ll return to our regular end-of-month updates straight up until launch.

<img src="”https://eiyudenchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/EC-Holiday.png”" alt="””" class="”aligncenter" size-full wp-image-1219″ />

Murayama’s Monthly Update
It’s currently all hands on deck as we work through bug fixing.

Bug checking and bug fixing is a heavy task in any game, but RPGs are especially buggy. The scenario progression isn’t so straightforward with some players going different places in the middle of the game, or even running backwards if they want. Because you have to deal with such cases, you need a lot of backup events that many players will never see.

Not only that, the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes biography is packed with a huge number of characters, each with their own battle and war scenario settings.
Not forgetting all the facilities available in the hub town, each of which needs to be checked too.

It’s no surprise then why the number of bug check reports is enormous.

In the past, these reports were written out by hand and just looking at them piled up inches high would make me feel pretty hopeless. These reports are conducted online now, but it’s still not much different in terms of psychological damage given the large number of pages of items in each report.

But once all these struggles are over, the game will be delivered to you all.

Once upon a time, I got a question from a player.
“The stairs to the second floor of the inn’s blocked by a barrel. How are you supposed to get to the second floor?” they asked.

I’m sorry. The upstairs was actually deleted because a lack of memory made it too buggy, so we put a barrel there to seal it off.

Director Komuta’s Sneak Peek
Komunichi-wa. Komuban-wa. Director Komuta here.
Development is nearing its climax, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have some in-development sneak peeks to share!

Welcome to snow-covered Skriss Village, a location Nowa and his friends will visit during their adventure.

<a href="/por/”https://www.reddit.com/r/EiyudenChronicle/comments/18nbdjl/welcome_to_snowcovered_skriss_village_a_location/”/"><img src="”https://eiyudenchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/EC2.jpg”" alt="””" class="”aligncenter" size-full wp-image-1221″ /></a>

What on earth do you think happened to this village?

<a href="/por/”https://www.reddit.com/r/EiyudenChronicle/comments/18nbe74/where_do_you_think_frozen_nowa_and_chums_are/”/"><img src="”https://eiyudenchronicle.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/ECIce.jpg”" alt="””" class="”aligncenter" size-full wp-image-1223″ /></a>

And where do you think frozen Nowa and chums are sliding off to?

Since this is the month of Happy Holidays, we wanted to show off a village and dungeon that felt perfect for the winter season.

Well, everyone, I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I’ll be sure to show you more glimpses in the next issue, so please look forward to it!

Development Updates:

Murayama’s Monthly Report

Different authors approach world setting and the story differently. While some create a detailed world setting and then fill it with story, I consider the setting to be a tool that assists the story.

For me, the world setting exists to make the story run smoothly and to add depth. So, I try not to create so many settings that I have an unnecessary surplus I won’t need in the future, but sometimes that simply doesn’t fly.

More than 100 heroes had to be assigned a place of origin. Of course, the world would be too small if only places that existed within the game could be used, so we had to make up places that did not exist in the game to be assigned as some characters’ birthplaces.

So basically, we need to set up locations that are not used in the game. I’d like to keep those vague, if possible, so that they don’t become a liability later on.

But as a player, it’s definitely more fun getting a glimpse of some details about that part than for us to be overly vague about it.

In the midst of such a combination, some of the names are specific and don’t exist in the game, and characters who don’t seem to care about such things are just given vague names like “from a country west of XX”.

Komuta D’s Sneak Peek

Komunichi-wa, komuban-wa. Director Komuta here.
I’m back again with another sneak peak for you!

You can play a variety of minigames as you progress through the story of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. And I’m going to give you a quick look at just one of them: Card Game!

It’s a very simple game where players play cards from their hands on the table and compete for three positions, but it’s actually pretty deep.

The higher the total of the numbers in the upper left corner of the card = the higher the strength and the better the position you get. Like other card games, matching card colors, numbers or creating combinations with numbers in sequential order gets you bonus points.

Not only that, cards with the same patterns as their friends have skills that activate various effects when certain conditions are met. Hildy’s card is a powerful one that increases your strength by +3 just by playing it.

Some skills are more effective than others, such as those that increase strength if the card colors are different, or others that straight up take away points from your opponent. It’s not a simple matter of building decks and play styles that differ depending on the characters your opponent uses. Buy card packs in the game to acquire cards, and build your own unique and powerful deck to become the best card battler!

That’s all from me today.

I hope you’re already looking forward to the next sneak peek!

September Update 2023

Campaign Updates:
“Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes” Physical Version Platform Selection E-mails:

We know the deadline on this was very tight as well as a few bugs in the initial E-mail. We needed to get as many answers as possible to begin the ordering process since physical versions have a much larger lead time. Fortunately we got up to 75% and are able to extrapolate from there. We know some people are worried they didn’t get a chance to change their selection in time but we since we have enough selections to be ordered, we are allowing remaining backers to alter their platform selection up until October 13th. Please be aware that you will not be able to change your selection after this date.
The Yetee will continue to answer customer service tickets as they come in.

If you are having trouble with your platform selection E-mail or if you have not received one and feel you should have, please reach out to the Yetee via their customer service form. If you cannot find it you can also E-mail them at eiyuden@theyetee.com

Digital Pre-order Content:

We’ve seen some questions over what Kickstarter backers receive vs what is included in pre-orders and the Digital Deluxe edition. The Digital Deluxe edition is one of the digital versions the community can purchase. In order to make Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes the biggest success it can be and so that we keep the franchise moving forward, creating different digital units is important. The Digital Deluxe versions usually contain unique bonuses to help increase preorders and secure a future for Eiyuden Chronicle. It’s always a delicate balance when dealing with a project that has been supported via crowdfunding. We do care about our backers, and are providing free DLC and unique merchandise that isn’t available to non-backing fans, but global community-facing versions are important for the overall success of the game.

Nintendo Direct

It’s always amazing to get support from 1st parties and being featured on the most recent Nintendo Direct was a dream come true! For those of you who didn’t see it, we revealed the release date as April 23rd, 2024! Preorders have begun so spread the word! Tell any of your JRPG-loving friends that this “Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes” is a game they won’t want to miss!! Here’s a link to the latest video.

Tokyo Game Show Recon Report

Last but not least, we had a great showing at Tokyo Game Show. Here’s a few select photos from the event and some quick thoughts from the developers about being able to show the game on their home turf!

Development Updates:
Submission of backers’ names in the end credits

This is the Eiyuden Chronicle team.

We are currently preparing the webpage for backers to submit their names for the end credits, as promised during the Kickstarter campaign.

We will soon be sending out a special backer-only Kickstarter update, so please wait just a little longer.

From all of the Eiyuden Chronicle team.

Closing out Tokyo Game Show 2023
Murayama

I attended TGS.

With a full day of handling interviews at a closed test session and three days at the infamously poorly air-conditioned event itself, I was feeling pretty groggy.

Despite staying overnight at a hotel the first day and going to the event again on the second, I made the grave mistake of forgetting to bring a change of clothes (I even took three different Rabbit & Bear t-shirts to hand out).

My shirt was soaked with sweat, and due to my body size, it wouldn’t have been easy for me to buy a replacement shirt somewhere nearby. So I had to keep walking back and forth between the hotel’s laundry room and my room with my shirt in my hand until a washing machine became available at 2am.

Nonetheless, it sounds like our announcement was received favorably by many people and there was much joy at the booth where we had the three main characters on display.

Kawano

It’s been a while. Kawano here.

I’m relieved that Tokyo Game Show 2023 ended well.

The air conditioning wasn’t working too well on the first day (and I hate hot weather) and I made a couple of mistakes during the live broadcast, but otherwise I’m doing pretty well. Apologies for that!

I’m relieved to finally be able to present Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes in its complete form.

(I wonder if this would be the first time it would see the light of day if it wasn’t crowdfunded.)

It’s been three years since we came to you asking for your help in making this game, and we’re both so sorry and so grateful to everyone for their patience and having to make you wait further still.

Please continue supporting us on this home stretch!

Murakami

TGS2023 is over.

Were you able to see the new trailer?

We really wanted you to hear Eiyuden’s theme sung by Sarah Olain, so we worked really hard to make it.

Preparations this year were much more difficult since they coincided with the final stages of the game’s production. I was personally pretty anxious about the release date announcement alongside other reveals but I’m relieved that we were able to receive so much good feedback.

Thank you to everyone who watched the official broadcast at TGS and came to the stage events, and to the press for all their feedback and comments. We’re doing our best to go through all of it.

We’re also pretty close to completing the game so there isn’t much we can do at this stage, but we hope to make any final adjustments under careful consideration of the feedback we received.

We started this project through Kickstarter and received the support of so many people from all around the world, and we’ve been able to develop a game for players from all around the world, which has been a life-long dream of ours. But when we started making the game and going to events and such, we realized how difficult and frustrating it can be.

I always feel the pressure of delivering a high quality product in a limited amount of time, while simultaneously working on the localization, controls, work volume, etc.

Being Japanese, I can use my relative experience as Japan is my home country, but overseas, language and sensibilities can be quite different so I’m always worrying if what I’m making is okay or not.

It can be a little frustrating since we can’t just drop production to travel abroad for events and other activities.

If possible, I would like to go to each country and talk to you all directly and feel that passion. I think about this all the time.

If Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes somehow does well in a major way, gains recognition and paves the way for another project then I would love to gather passionate team members from overseas to solve these kinds of problems.

That’s what I am thinking about these days.

Komuta

Komunichi-wa, Komuban-wa, it’s Director Komuta.

First of all, I’m so relieved that TGS2023 went off without a hitch.

(Eh, I still have a ton of work to do though… ^^;)

I wanted to give a shout out to the team who worked day and night to prepare for the event!

The video we unveiled is only a small part of the project, but we’re finally, FINALLY at this point.

I am so sorry for keeping you waiting!

And the overall patterns shown off totalled 1 billion, not 500 million! I got the math wrong… orz

There’s so much content we haven’t shown you yet, such as the hometowns, boss battles and mini-games, so I hope we can show those off little by little.

Getting so many enthusiastic comments from all over the world has inspired me to keep running until the end.

We have to wait just a little longer for the release, but I hope you’ll continue to support us as we go.

P.S.

I was pounced on as soon as I got back from TGS by a 7.5kg Yobune who was made to stay home (LOL)
